The city is home to several private schools, most prominent of which are institutions like St. Pius X Regional School, Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School, and Belair Baptist Christian Academy. Also located in the city is Bowie State University, which is the oldest historically black college or university (HBCU) in the state, as well as one of the oldest in the entire nation.
